Shah Alam - A mass protest is said to be planned tomorrow by some 100 couples who have long planned to get married this year. The Shah Alam square, or known as Dataran Shah Alam will be filled with 200 to 300 people, most who are planning to tie the knot this year, holding placards, with peaceful messages.
The uproar was caused by the decision to no longer use the 1 sen coin, which apparently has stirred the anger of these young lovebirds.
Mr. Amir, says he is "very disappointed" by the Bank's decision to not use the coin anymore. According to the 23 year old accountant who hails from Rembau, he was planning on paying RM3333.33 as his 'Mas Kahwin', but since there are no 1 sen coins, how will he choose this number?
The accountant who is the president of '1Sen, 1Love, 1Marriage Foundation', had earlier planned to get married on the 33rd of March, which is why he chose the number 3333.33 as his 'Mas Kahwin'. But since the number will be rounded off to RM3333.30, it will lose it's 'Ong'.
Head of Operations, Communications, and Teleportations, Mr Vimal, says the gathering will be a peaceful one, God willing.
"It has not rained for a few days," says Mr V, his 'nama manja', "So let's hope it doesn't rain on our parade."
Mr. Amir ended our fake interview by saying that the reason why 1Malaysia in ineffective is due to the absence of 1 sen coins.
"According to my research," says Amir, "1Malaysia has the number '1' in it. How can there be the number 1 in 1Malaysia, when there is no 1 sen coin? That's not logic." When asked why the protest was only going to be held tomorrow, and not on 1st April 2008, (the date the coin stopped circulating), he said "I just realised the coins aren't in circulation anymore. My mother says I am 'lampi', I am ashamed, but I would have to agree with her."
