So I was chilling, and saw a picture of an artist, let me name her, for the sake of the story, I saw Cheryl Samad, in the Metro which my friend bought (god forbid they buy it again).
They say that curiosity killed the cat.
I was curious as a cucumber, so I said "This Cheryl Samad, is she a muslim?" out of curiosity. No offense to the artist or actress or whatever they call those people these days. I was genuinely curious.
So my friend, the sort of 'typical malay' guy sort of type, said "dude, look at ther name. There's a Samad at the end. What type of name is Samad?" (it is a muslim name, I guess? Basically, I guess, he was saying yes?)
And I, am a person who hates answering questions. But to be more precise, I love answering questions with more questions. So I answered, like a smartass, "Okay, Idris Jala. Look at his name. It's Idris. (Idris is the name of a prophet, most muslims know this, and my muslim friend knew this). Guess what Idris is? He's a Christian, yes."
Then and there, I gave a lecture, and I don't -------'marah' (x)people, because they don't listen, and they probably just reply with stupid arguments, but I -------did. And I said "We are in the day and age where a name doesn't define a (person's) religion. And my example shows this, if not clearly. So I ask you, is Cheryl a muslim? I know her dad's name is Samad, I am not blind nor that stupid, but I am asking you, if you know, not by assuming by looking at her name, if she is a muslim." (not in english, or fancy language)
And, like all people who are lectured, he did not answer. Which brings us to the question, which I still don't have an answer to, even though after looking through Google for Cheryl Samad, any basis if she is muslim. But I didn't check facebook.
So, if you know if she is a muslim or not, tell me, not because I want to stereotype her or anything, it's because I am just plain curious.
by the way, it's pictures like these which made me curious. And, her facebook page does not state her religion too. So any help is greatly appreciated.

the whole point was, to know 'factually' or whatever the proper term is, if, she is a muslim. Anyone can guess.
