Lingua Franca

Ali was in class and saw his two friends talking to each other. Aziz and Bakri were planning what they were going to have for lunch.

Aziz: "Hey, I borrow you 5Ringgit ah? Later you give me back ok?"

Bakri: "I think you mean 'I lend you 5Ringgit' don't you?"

Aziz: Yela Yela I am stupid I know. You are clever.

Have you ever been in Bakri's shoes? You tell someone to improve their language or grammar because the meaning is completely different, and get the 'yela aku bodoh, kau sahaja yang pandai' sentence.

If someone helps you or tells your sentence is wrong, and not just a little bit wrong, but COMPLETELY wrong, then say thank you, and not 'I don't care la'. Aziz should say 'thank you / terima kasih' or at the least 'yela-yela' but not 'shut up' etc. 

Language is important because  it is vital in preventing misunderstandings. Taking Aziz as an example 'I borrow you RM5' sounds like Aziz wants to borrow RM5 when in reality he wants to give(lend) Bakri RM5. 

This is a petty example. But imagine if you were married and wanted to say something to your beloved wife, eg: You want to say she smells really nice. And you say "You smell la sayang". You smell is 'awak busuk', and  instead of telling your beautiful wife or husband that their aroma or scent is pleasant, you may cause them to cry or hit you.

In parliament or politics. Language is REALLY important. Everywhere for that matter. Language is not something which you can say 'Haiya, that one is not important one lar', because it is. It is the key of communication be it through SMS, chatting, in person, or even sign language. Language is key.

So don't go 'So what?' or 'Aku kesah apa?', because the day you lose your wife/ husband because you always cause fights due to improper language or misunderstandings is they day it is too late to learn this lesson.
